Gender Selection (PGD/PGS)

Complete patient guide — what it is, who it's for, the process, costs, and which countries offer it.

Overview

Gender selection is performed as part of an IVF cycle using preimplantation genetic testing (PGT). Embryos are biopsied at the blastocyst stage (day 5-7) and screened for chromosomal abnormalities and sex chromosomes before transfer.

Legal status varies significantly: Gender selection for family balancing is allowed in Thailand. Singapore permits it only for medical reasons (sex-linked genetic disorders). Australia prohibits it across all states for non-medical reasons.
